The Authors Wall

One cold winters morning, the Cullinane Kids looked at some freezing cold icecubes.  We wrote about what they looked and felt like.  We used lots of adjectives (describing words). Some writers were clever enough to use a simile in their writing!

“Arrrrr!” I said when I was holding the ball of ice.  The ice ball looks like a Minecraft diamond.  As the ice was melting, it looked like it was dribbling.  The ice had round holes in it.  The ice is transparent as well.  It looks just like a crystal.  Also, first it was rough and then it was smooth.  It is very chilly.  I love eating ice because you’re actually drinking water.

“Brrr!” My icecube was freezing.  It had sharp corners as sharp as shark teeth.  When I just got my icecube, it was bumpy and white, and it was solid.  But when it started to melt, the icecube was starting to shrink and turn into a transparent liquid.  The icecube looked like a transparent shiny crystal.  When I felt the icecube, it was freezing like I was swimming in the North Atlantic.  While the icecube was melting, it was as smooth as snow from Mount Everest. The huge chunk of ice was as bumpy as lots of rocks.  The ice was so cold that my fingers felt numb. When the icecube was wet, it was soggy like swamp water.  Ice melts quicker in the sun because there is more heat.  Ice can melt anywhere except in the fridge, in the chilly bin, North Atlantic and the North Pole.  I hate ice because it is so cold that it makes my hands hurt like a shark is biting them.

“Brrr!” I am holding the icecube.  It looked like a crystal.  It looked like see-through glass.  When I stare at the icecube, my eyes freeze like the wind.  In the icecube there were lots of holes.  They were like a mole’s holes.  The ice cube was sharp like a thorn bush.  When I was holding the icecube, it was freezing like cold water.  When I was holding the icecube, it was melting in my hands. When Miss Thomas brought the chilly bin, it was white and blue.  My fingers were wet like water.  My fingers were cold like the wind.  When I was holding the icecube my hands turned red.

“Brrr,” I said when I held the ice.  It was freezing.  It was as freezing as snow.  When I looked closer I could see some holes in it.  After that, we felt the ice and it was very sharp.  The ice was very see-through and the ice was very slippery too.  It was very smooth too.  It was lucky to be smooth.  The ice is wet too and it is like water when it is wet.  The ice is bumpy like a rock.  When you hold the ice it is very cold.

“Brrr!” I said as the ice melted in my hand.  It looks like a see-through crystal.  The ice is cold in my hand.  It is as freezing as it is up the mountain.  The ice is sharp.  My one has a giant hole in it.  It is wet in my hand.  It is dribbling in my hands.  My class put the ice outside.  We put it by the school pool.
Jake

“Brrr! The ice is cold,” I said.  The ice was very wet.  It was melting in my hand.  It slipped and slid in my hand.  My hand turned red like a red apple.  I could see through it.  It was see-through like a glass window.  It looked like a shiny crystal.  There were sharp bits.  It was as sharp as a claw.  I liked it because it was see-through.

Ice is water that has been frozen my refrigerators, mountains and fridges.  When water has been damaged, ice melts and turns into water.  The icecubes look like a crystal ball.  Some ice cubes are sharp.  The ice cubes have holes.  When I was holding the ice, I was shivering.  The ice is slippery and wet.
Tim

My ice is see-through because it is melting.  It has little bumpy holes in it.  It is as smooth as a snail shell.  When I held it, it melted.  When I held it, it looked wet on my hands.  My hands looked red and felt like there were prickles inside my hands.  When I held the ice, it slipped and slid. It felt wet.  I was as cold as an iceberg.  I hate the ice because it is cold.
Rhen

“Brrr,” I shiver.  The icecube looks like a crystal.  When you leave ice in the sun, it melts easily.  But when you put it in the shade, it doesn’t melt quicker, it melts slower.  It is colder than frosty snow off the top of Mount Everest.  The ice feels frosty in my hand.  The ice is as cold as Antarctica. It is so cold that I had to toss it from hand to hand.  It’s freezing when I touch it.  After I touched it, my hands felt numb.  My icecube had a hole like a telescope.
Oliver

“Brrr,” I said as I held my ice.  When I first saw my ice it looked like a shiny transparent crystal.  My bit of ice was very slippery.  When I saw the frosty transparent ice, it looked very icy.  The ice looked like a transparent window.   When I put it in my hand it was freezing like a snowball.  When I held my ice it felt soggy and also slippery.  My fingers started to feel numb.  My ice suddenly started to melt very quickly.  It kept on dribbling.  I love the ice because it is soggy.
Freya

“Brrr,” I said.  When I hold the ice, it makes my hands feel like they are going to turn into freezing ice.  The ice looks like a cold sharp crystal.  It slips and slides in my hands like a sledge. The ice is so wet that it feels like its dribbling down my hands.  It’s slippery in my hands.  The ice makes me chilly.
Gina

“Brrr” I said when I felt my freezing icecube.  My icecube was very chilly and sharp.  I like ice because it slips in my hand I thought that the ice looked like see-through glass.  The ice looked like a crystal.  My icecube was very soggy because it was melting.  The ice was frosty snow then it turned into very cold ice.  The ice is colder than snow.  MY hand turned red like a tomato.
Lexie

“Brrr!” I said as I held my icecube.  It was freezing.  The ice was transparent and it looked like a crystal. I touched a sharp corner. “Ow!” I said.  I glanced through the ice.  It was see through.  My ice started to melt and started to get slippery.  It was starting to get chillier than before.  The little frosty bits were disappearing.  My fingers were going numb and started to go red.  The ice was as cold as Wellington Stadium filled up with snow one thousand times.  Ice feels cold and it melts easily.
Alfie

“Brrr,” I said.  I was freezing.  The ice looks like a crystal.  When the ice was melted, it turned into water.  If you pu the ice in your hand a long time, it will go numb. The ice was so sharp like a sharks fin.  The ice has holes in it.  When I touch it a long time it’s cold on my hands.  It’s really cold. The ice melts quicker in the sun.  It’s like a bumpy road.  It is wet.
Meliz

“Brrr,” I said.  I had an icecube in my left hand.  It looked like a transparent crystal.  My icecube has one hole in it.  First the ice was solid, then it melted into liquid.  My icecube was frosty and it made my hands go numb.  It felt like my left hand was going to crack straight away, but luckily the ice melted.
